About Project Sonrisa
Project Sonrisa is a non-profit mental health campaign based in Scotland with the aim of raising awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.
Mental health is something that everyone has no matter age, gender, or background. It is a topic that many people still struggle to openly talk about.
Project Sonrisa aims to tackle the stigma through a variety of different projects that engage and involve people from all over the world. We do this by encouraging a positive narrative of conversation and engaging with diverse groups of people
Our founder, Emma Prach started Project Sonrisa during the first lockdown of the coronavirus pandemic with a virtual choir. It was originally set up as a mini project and a way of getting the local community of Cumbernauld involved in something during a difficult time. Emma developed a passion for storytelling and organising events where people could feel a sense of community. They combined this passion with their pre-existing passion for mental health and began generating new ideas and plans to turn Project Sonrisa into a long-term organisation.
Emma Prach founded Project Sonrisa in July 2020 and has continued to grow the organisation since. In July 2022 Wiktoria Orlicka was appointed as the Director of Communications for Project Sonrisa.

Project Sonrisa runs projects by applying for grants. We have so far also held one fundraising event.
